Monday Musings....

THE POWER OF LOVE

Across the gateway of my heart
I wrote "No thoroughfare,"
But love came laughing by, and cried
"I enter everywhere".

Grateful...

Today I am grateful for
PRAYERS.....
our lifeline to God.

'Praying Hands' by Albrecht Durer

The story behind this etching is amazing...the artist did it in honour of his
brother Albert, who sacrificed his hands in work to support Albrecht while he studied art in Nuremberg. It is a true reminder to be grateful in ALL things and give a little prayer of thanks each day.

May you find lots to be grateful for today! Pop on over here for more 'pockets of grateful'.

Port Willunga

I have had this dream, this wish for a long long time and finally last weekend it
was realised - WOW what a day!!

We took ourselves off for a drive 'down south' of Adelaide to the gorgeous
Port Willunga.
The day was sunshine'y gorgeous, not a cloud to be seen
Families were dotted along the beach everywhere
enjoying this last hurrah befoe the new school year commenced
There are these amazing caves cut in to the cliff face....
the perfect shelter from the sun's rays

We went for a lovely walk, getting our feet wet in
the cooling sea
I felt it was just as if I was somewhere on the Greek Islands...
I truly had to pinch myself, it hardly seemed real!!!
BUT....IT....WAS...and right here in our lovely
South Australia!!!
Then we had a late lunch at the much famed 'Star of Greece Cafe' -
was it worth the trip?
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!
It was a deliriously magical day!!

Monday Musings....

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.

My thoughts have been very much with all the children heading back to start the new year of school...and here in Adelaide at least in such HOT HOT weather!!!

The Pink Lake Lady

The Pink Lake at Lochiel by Travelpod Member Nickimja

When we drove over to Pt Lincoln last month to spend time with my parents we went through the small dust marked town of Lochiel, just north of Adelaide. This town has always captured my imagination....I think it is cute.

I have held rather fanciful dreams of living in the old shop/post office - that building holds an allure for me for some reason. Gosh knows what I would actually DO in this town.....sit and contemplate the pink lady and write lots maybe......

Then there is this building....for a long time it was an eating place....it used to look loads better than this!! I was always so impressed with someone having the guts and determination to run this in Lochiel - there used to be lovely eating spots outside. Now its run down BUT I have just discovered its for sale!!!

I think the allure of this place really has something to do with the pink lake......it is so beautiful and mysterious....here is a recent scribble from that trip.

LOCHIEL'S LADY

Can you dance across
the pink lady
as she laces and curls
around the eastern scapes
of a forgotten
roadside town

straggly pines
border her
outline
like worn-out ribbons
in yesterday's hair
yet she is
calm and serene
with not a ripple
on her countenance

this lady of the land
is somehow resplendant
settled in her
unfettered cloak
she the constant marker
on a busy main highway
to somewhere else.

I am

I am
you are
we are Australian

In recent weeks I have been saddened and broken over the devastation that has swept across parts of our land BUT I have also been gladdened and heartened by what people have done for others. We had our lovely holiday break in QLD and it was wonderful to be away but there was a very stark reminder around the corner, literally, of havoc on a grand scale. We helped where we could and felt good doing so.

I have returned home being even more thankful for what I have. I want to focus on the 'moments' each day and stress less about the maybe's of life.

I am truly truly thankful to be part of this beautiful country Australia and raise my head up high with great pride today especially -
HAVE A FABULOUS AUSTRALIA DAY........whatever you do!
