Walking In The Morning At Anlabee

if I am quiet
I can slip out
go along any
wandering path
across fields
reach out to
wide open
spaces

if I am quiet
I can slip out
early in the day
as the sun
first stretches over
the horizon
spreading out her
warming fingers

if I am quiet
I can slip out
appreciate
this new sun
heating my weariness
one step at a time
I get to be
free.

Amazing Mums!!!!

I picked up a fab book yesterday -
"How to be an 'Amazing Mum' When You
Just Don't Have the Time" by Tanith Carey
and it so full of sensible value suggestions...
it makes me wonder why some of it hadn't
dawned on me previously.

It is a 'dip in and read' a section type of book
with suggestions on how to -
- arrive at school looking fab NO MATTER WHAT
- head off mess BEFORE it happens
- throw together a nutritious school lunch in ONE MINUTE
- get children to do what you ask the FIRST time
and such like.

I have already spent a little bit of time 'dipping in'
and am impressed. It is written by a UK author so some
points are more relevant to Northern Hemisphere mums
but that said I think it gives great value
AND it cost me a whole AUD $9.96.

On that note it got me thinking.......
my Max is a little older now but I did purchase
a couple of these recently

they are FABULOUS crayon rolls from
one very talented and amazing lady
check out Lindsey's creations here

They keep the crayon/pencil stash neat & easy
to find,
they are cute - she does them in a whole host of fabrics
AND she is absolutely delightful to correspond with.
I have purchased from her a few times now and always
get my orders in super quick time.
I gave one each to my sisters (who have little boys)
and they have both reported back to me that they
are a God send!!!

For you crafty clever chickies out there.....I think Lindsey
did a tutorial on how to make them about 2-3 months ago
so I say go fo it......
you will be considered a SUPER COOL MUM!!!

Two Infant Angels on Clouds Bearing A Cross (After Titian)
by Federico Zuccaro

there are more than 20
angels in this world,
10 are peacefully sleeping on clouds,
nine are playing
and one is reading this quote right now.

I Wonder......

Woman in a Box Revisited

this painting bemuses me time & time again,
I wonder where the woman in red is,
I wonder what she is thinking,
I wonder if the lounging female in the background
is her at another time....
I wonder.....

What makes you wonder?
Do certain images or pictures
make you stop and think,
what makes you go back and back again
to re-ponder?

Mary's Tears

and her wretched hour
became her famous hour
that time when
she at her
most low
reached out with
quiet desperation
flowing tears testament
to the gutted soul
she lay bare
to Him

He heard her cry
felt her tears
large salty drops on
His feet
noted her passion
amongst those heart sobs
and He reached down
touched her
now matted hair
that had wiped clean
those tears spilt over
His feet

He smiled gently
as she with
hope felt eased
she bent her head again
and anointed Him
with her most precious
ointment.

Scribbling Spots....

When looking for inspiration it is amazing
what you can find out there....
If only my writing nook looked like one of these...

or for the less cluttered
"zen like" moments
I like this...
But I think best of all I want to
plant myself down on this chair
and while away many many hours in delightful pleasure
scribbling & revising my writings!!

I am off to scribble down some thoughts
before they disappear!!!

Monday Musings...

Yesterday at church our minister asked that God would
protect and guide our children in such a materialistic & posessions
based world.....I thought this was such a lovely prayer.

image via Benton's

I then got home & over a cuppa was reading a section of our
Sunday paper & I came across an article by Anna Moore
- '20 Ways to Simplify Your Life'.
She starts the article..."Stop being so hard on yourself
& you'll be a lot happier & more relaxed."
Here are three that I thought I would share with you.

1. Cut down your to-do-list.
Restrict your daily to-do-list to three tasks only.
Don't try to tackle your entire mental "master"
list. Pick three things that are achievable in a day,
including one easy one that you can cross off straight
away.

2. Don't ignore tiredness.
Take a rest. Tiredness is not something that should
be dismissed as part of a busy life. Lack of energy
is one of the symptoms of depression. Seek help
before you crash.

3. Choose an extra holiday over a new kitchen floor.
Children couldn't care less if the floor is vinyl or limestone,
but memories of holidays will stay with you all for a
lifetime.

Some of you may already be aware that I struggle with this fast paced materialistic
world we find ourselves in & how I am seeking ways
to have an impact for the better & make my mark on leading a
calmer, more sustainable & I believe happier life!
I often struggle with this & tie myself in knots trying to get
it all right in one go. I worry about the life my children live & how they
seem to want, want, want so much & yet I love the moments
when I sneak a peek of my Max playing "Star Wars" with his imaginary friends
outside......
I think I need to learn to realise what I have achieved & concentrate on little
accomplishments along the way. I need to listen to my body when it is tired, have a think
& get on with organising our much talked about trip to Melbourne & stop with the GIGANTIC to-do-list!!! (amongst other things!!!)

Many fab women out there are doing lots of great things daily in their homes & their lives....
Why don't you take a moment or two & go visit with  Emma, Joyce & Traci along with
another fabulous mumma here.
They all inspire me on a daily basis - thanks girls....

My "prayer" today is that we can all take a moment to muse
on simplifying our lives this Monday - & perhaps adding back some joy!!!

My Creative Space

so this was my inspiration gathered directly from
I started out with some paper & glue as suggested
then I set to work doing lots of
cutting & folding...
(ps - please note the little alien drawn by my Max!!!)

I then patiently glued it altogether

it was then time for some mixing &
a little baking

& a little later...
VOILA!!!

what do you think....did they work???

it was for a birthday surprise at our writing group
tonight.....hence my late entry!!!
little take home party cakes....

Monday Musings...

What I like doing best is Nothing. It's when people call out at you
just as you're going off to do it, "What are you going to do?" and
you say "Oh, nothing," and then you go and do it. Doing
Nothing means just going along, listening to all the things you can't
hear, and not bothering.

Have a fab Nothing Day!!!

Open Spaces

I am a little bleary eyed today - had a fantastic but late night with my writing group last night....subject matter this week was "Open Spaces".

I feel it all
closing in around me
sharp painfully bright
flickering lights
loud deep
resounding noises
my mind needs to get
away
for a break
from this
urban concreted jungle
steps are taken
at the threshold
I walk again
that well worn
path
At that turn
I go left
haven't tried that before
the noise
those loud piercing
shrills
laughter
and manufactured
cacophany of full time
life's party cheer
still feels so close
around a corner
and past a little shrub
it's there my feet find
this wonderful scene
my mind has at last
perchance
stumbled upon
the most magnificent,
the most amazing
of open spaces.

This is our park...straight across the road & it goes on forever.....I love its wide open spaces.

Have a fab weekend, get out in some open spaces & enjoy!!!
